![]() ![]() Recent studies suggest patients in the United States may experience a far greater number of adverse events than originally reported. As a result of these two landmark reports, a dialogue began around patient safety in the modern era. The federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires employees to be paid 1.5 times their regular hourly pay rate for any additional hours worked. The broader focus of this document provided a roadmap for reforming the nation's health care system. EBP is knowing that what we do is the best practice (AMSN, 2014). What Is Mandatory Overtime in Nursing Mandatory overtime laws were established to ensure that workers received compensation for hours that exceeded the standard 40-hour work week. Overarching these fun events is the theme of safety. My facilities are planning Nurses Day Awards, a nursing unit poster competition with the chief executive office and chief financial officer serving as judges, an abundance of potlucks, a city-wide gala, and a research and evidence-based practice symposium. This year, May 6-12 is certain to be full of celebrations, award ceremonies, team-building activities, and the pride that comes with being a professional nurse.
